Why has the United States of America concentrated large military forces near Iran?
The United States has been massing large military forces near Iran, largely due to heightened tensions over Iran’s nuclear program and diplomatic pressure. According to recent reports, Washington has deployed fighter jets, aircraft carriers and thousands of troops to increase pressure on Tehran to accept a new deal and to show military readiness if negotiations fail.
Another reason is deterrence and protection of allies in the region. The US says the deployment of fleets and aircraft aims to deter Iran from aggressive actions and stabilize the situation in the Middle East, especially after the increase in regional clashes and the risk of escalation.
However, analysts warn that this move also has a political message: it is a way to show strength and force negotiations without necessarily going to war. Although some US officials do not rule out the possibility of limited strikes, the situation remains unclear and diplomacy continues in parallel with the military buildup.
