Bad weather is expected to hit the country, State Police appeal to drivers

The State Police has appealed for increased caution from citizens due to the worsening hydrometeorological conditions that are expected to affect the country from Friday afternoon until Saturday morning.

Authorities are asking drivers of small vessels and fishing vessels to avoid going out to sea outside the Gulf of Vlora and the Gulf of Saranda, as well as along the Dhërmi-Himarë-Saranda coastline. At the same time,

The police call on drivers of vehicles and motorcycles to exercise maximum caution, respect speed limits, safety distances, and avoid dangerous maneuvers, while pedestrians are advised to be attentive while moving, especially in areas where precipitation and moisture are expected on the roads.

“Based on forecasts for the deterioration of marine hydrometeorological and atmospheric conditions, the State Police announces that, starting from noon on 24.07.2026 until the morning of 25.07.2026, small vessels and fishing vessels intending to operate outside the Gulf of Vlora and the Gulf of Saranda, in the open sea and along the Dhërmi-Himarë-Saranda coastline, should avoid going to sea, due to unfavorable hydrometeorological conditions during this time frame.

The drivers of these vessels must exercise increased caution, take into account the worsening weather conditions and avoid any departures to sea that may endanger their safety and that of the persons on board.

Also, given the forecasts for worsening weather conditions tomorrow, the State Police appeals for increased caution from citizens and all drivers of vehicles and motorcycles, respecting road traffic rules, speed limits, safety distance and avoiding dangerous maneuvers.

Pedestrians are advised to show increased attention and caution while moving, especially in rainy or wet road conditions.

The State Police appeals to all users of small boats, fishing vessels and all road users to show maximum caution, not only during this period of time, but in the future, in order to increase life safety parameters.”
